SEA KAYAK IN PACAYA SAMIRIA

Pacaya Samiria is the largest protected flooded forest of the world and one of the richest places in biological wealth on the planet. Between its biological diversity we find 449 of tropical bird species, 102 of mammals, 256 known species of freshwater fish, 69 of reptiles and more than 1000 varieties of plants, as well as species in danger of extinction like the giant otter, the black lizard, the manatee and the pink dolphin of the Amazon.

Itinerary

DAY 1:

Arrive in the morning to Lima and take the internal flight to Tarapoto (1 hour). We’ll pick you up from the airport and drive to Yurimaguas (2 hours approx). Arrive to the Rio Huallaga Hotel and prepare for next day start.

DAY 2:

Transfer to riverside on the Huallaga river to board our motorboat with all the gear. This day we’ll be travel in our comfortable motorboat down to the Huallaga river. We’ll start to feel the jungle temperature and adapt to the environment. We’ll stop on the way to have lunch in the riverside, and continue to our first campsite.

DAYS 3 TO 6:

After breakfast we’ll provide the participants with all the gear, adjust the kayaks, give them a safety instruction and start paddling down river. We’ll start in the Huallaga river and soon we’ll arrive to the Marañón river.

With our silent boats we’ll be able to see two different species of dolphins every day: the pink dolphin of the Amazon and the little gray dolphin, and they’ll swim among us. We also will see many different species of birds like the great king fisher.

We’ll enter into Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, the largest  NR, and one of the biologically richest reserve in Perú. We’ll camp in sandy beaches or small villages, where we can know more about the friendly local people. Our motorboat will be following us with all the gear, kitchen/cook, and it’ll provide a resting place when someone get tired of the kayak, or dinning room for lunch or dinner.

On day 6 we’ll be arrive to a jungle lodge to spend the night and relax.

DAY 7:

We’ll take a guided tour into the reserve in a small motorboat. Afternoon tour or relax at the swimming pool.

DAY 8:

Arrive to the confluence of the Marañón and the Ucayali river that makes the Amazon river. Drive to Iquitos and overnight.

DAY 9:

Transfer to the airport to take your flight to Lima.
